Art Dialogues

Art Dialogues is an online magazine founded by photographer Anita Goes, dedicated to expanding artistic conversations between Brazil and the world. Having lived in New York for a decade, Anita sought a way to stay connected with Brazil’s rich and dynamic artistic scene. From this desire, a platform was born, focusing on promoting deep and reflective exchanges with artists, curators, and cultural thinkers. Through the magazine, we aim to go beyond the finished work, diving into the stories, inspirations, and creative processes that shape each artist's journey. At the heart of Art Dialogues are authentic conversations and texts, each capturing the essence of a diverse community of collaborators and offering readers a multifaceted view of the art world.

The artists featured in this exhibition—Carolina Cordeiro, Larissa de Souza, Deni Lantz, and Laura Gorski—appear in the second and most recent edition of the magazine.

The evocation of landscape, the economic and social aspects tied to our history, as well as the poetry present in diverse cultural or everyday manifestations, are intrinsic to Carolina Cordeiro’s practice. Landscape appears in her work in various ways: from that revealed through the intimacy of household objects, to the observation of transformations caused by mining around her hometown, and even in the lyrics of samba songs, which since the early 20th century have depicted the urban division between sharply defined social classes. Her projects always aim to make visible something that, although present, remained hidden. Cordeiro (Belo Horizonte, 1983) lives and works in São Paulo, is a co-founder of GDA - Galeria de Artistas, and is also represented by the Galatea gallery. She holds a PhD from the ECA/USP Department of Arts in Theory, Teaching, and Learning (2021) and graduated in Drawing from EBA/UFMG (2008).

Larissa de Souza (São Paulo, 1995), a self-taught artist, focuses on the image of the Afro-diasporic woman in her personal and collective universe in her mostly figurative paintings. Her work carries the history of the women in her lineage and the strength of many others. In 2016, she began working at an art supplies store, where she learned more deeply about specific aspects of materials and various techniques. Soon after, she started working as an assistant in the store’s studio. Since childhood, she has been interested in drawing and was fascinated by the street art of São Paulo. It was during the 2020 pandemic that she had the opportunity to dedicate herself to creating her own works.

Deni Lantz is a Brazilian artist. He works and lives in São Paulo. His work primarily revolves around painting, in various formats and supports. Initially, his paintings evoke atmospheric colors and a special attention to texture and the particularities and possibilities of the surface through painting. Gradually, the artist’s themes, references, and goals begin to emerge. Nature and its processes of fertilization, seeds, roots, the micro and macrocosms, oracular games, relationships with music, rhythms, and Brazil’s popular and vernacular culture. He worked for two months in an artist residency in NY (Residency Unlimited), between May and June, and now the artist is back in his studio in Brazil, reflecting on that experience and its developments and impressions.

Laura Gorski (São Paulo, SP, Brazil, 1982) is a visual artist and educator. Her research involves the investigation of landscapes through displacement, the creation of immersive and contemplative images through drawing, painting, and their relation to the body and space. She graduated in Product Design from the Centro Universitário Belas Artes de São Paulo. This exhibition celebrates these ongoing dialogues and vibrant exchanges that connect Brazilian art with audiences worldwide.
