Carolina Cordeiro

Carolina Cordeiro thinks her practice from the evocation of the landscape, the socioeconomic aspects that involve our history, as well as the poetry present in the most diverse cultural or everyday manifestations. The landscape is there in different ways: whether from a more intimate environment revealed by domestic objects, by observing the changes caused by mineral exploration in the surroundings of the city where she was born, or even those described in samba lyrics, which already portrayed, since the beginning of the 20th century, the segregation of urban space between classes.

For the artist, historical and cultural issues are, at the same time, central aspects in changing the landscape and it continues to be the bearer of an original essence. Cordeiro always thinks of formalizing his projects in such a way as to make visible something that, although present at all times, had not been noticed until then. If in the work process the research starts conceptually, the moment of presentation opens space for poetic and immersive experimentation.
